Cold temperatures reduce battery performance, especially around summit night. Carry sufficient charged power banks and spare camera batteries, and keep batteries close to your body in cold conditions. Put electronics in waterproof pouches inside your daypack. A phone is often the most practical camera because it is light and quick to access. Dedicated cameras can produce excellent results but add weight and require careful battery and moisture management. Avoid carrying equipment you have not practiced using while wearing gloves. Cellular coverage exists in parts of the mountain environment but should never be treated as continuous or guaranteed. Your expedition’s emergency communication plan is managed by the guide and the operations team, who can be reached 24/7. Ask permission before photographing crew members or other climbers at close range.
